Want to be part of a greener future for Poplar?

Join Poplar Green Futures for a series of fun, interactive workshops this summer. No experience is needed – just a desire to be part of creating a community-led action plan for a greener and healthier Poplar! Refreshments will be provided, and you will receive a gift card to thank you for your time at each workshop, up to the value of £60 for all 3 sessions. Keep an eye out for more events later this summer!

Poplar Green Futures aims to bring together local residents, business owners and organisations to explore how we can become a low carbon neighbourhood. Explore money-saving and carbon-saving ideas to help you and the planet!

Workshop 1: Air Quality, Active Lifestyles and Green Spaces Saturday 16th July 10am-2:30pm at the Teviot Centre, 1 Wyvis St, London E14 6QD

Workshop 2: Homes and Energy, Re-Use and Recycling Saturday 23rd July 10am-2:30pm at the Teviot Centre, 1 Wyvis St, London E14 6QD

Workshop 3: Community Priorities for Poplar Wednesday 3rd August 6:30pm-8pm Virtual Online Session

What will you gain from taking part?

  • Insights into local environmental issues and projects addressing climate change
  • Money-saving tips to help with fuel bills and household bills
  • The opportunity to influence future environmental priorities in Poplar
  • Networking with a diverse group of people who care about their local neighbourhood
  • Become an ambassador for the Poplar Green Futures programme
  • An insight into Green Economy opportunities, and how sustainability and efficiency can help drive profitability for businesses
  • Refreshments will be provided.

As a thank you for your time and ideas, we’ll also be offering gift cards (or a donation to a charity of your choice) to the value of £20 for each in-person workshop, £15 for the online session and £60 if you attend all three. You can choose between:

  • A One4All gift voucher which can be used in thousands of UK shops. 
  • Or you can nominate a charity of your choice and we’ll make a donation to them in your name.

Am I eligible to take part?

To join the workshops and claim a gift card for your time and ideas, you must:

  • Live or work in Poplar or Tower Hamlets 
  • Be at least 18 years old

Children under 18 are welcome to attend the workshops with a parent or carer but will not be remunerated.  Please let us know in advance where possible if you plan to bring a child along.

Please do not attend this workshop if you are showing any symptoms of Covid-19. Virus levels are currently high in the UK and participants are welcome to wear a mask / visor etc if they would like to.

Who’s leading the Poplar Green Futures project and workshops?

Poplar Green Futures is a multi-partner project led by Poplar HARCA, a housing and regeneration community association based in Poplar.

The project is supported by the Mayor of London’s ‘Future Neighbourhood’ programme, Aberfeldy LLP and Chrisp Street Developments Ltd. It is part of the LB Tower Hamlets Net Zero Carbon Partnership The workshops will be run by URBED Ltd and Shared Future CIC.
